I think this needs to be my new motto:
"Positive minds produce positive lives, but negative minds produce negative lives" (Meyers, pg. 63)
Prayer:
"Gracious God, thank You for every deliverance in my life. Thank You for setting me free from negative and wrong thinking. Thank You for defeating Satan in this area of my life. Amen"
**********My Thoughts**********
In today's reading, I kept thinking back to what I would tell people why I can't run.
"If God wanted me to run, He would have created me with 7 lungs, and 9 pair of frog legs."
That is what I believed.
Wholeheartedly.
When I was diagnosed with asthma, that statement became even more true. Afterall, my lungs were truly not created to run.
Until that day back in December 2010 when my good friend Jacci asked if I would run the 5/3 Riverbank 25k with her.
I coughed and told her probably not, but that I would think about it.
But the entire time in my head, I'm thinking "HELL NO!"
After a few of praying over it, God showed me how well Jacci has done with weight loss and I was truly so proud of her for it. So, in order to show her that, I told her YES!
Training was hard at first. But the more I did it, the better I became. The better I became, the higher my confidence grew.
I liked that feeling.
Jacci and me ended up not running the 25k because she was pregnant with baby number 3 and because I honestly didn't train for that distance. We did, however, run the 10k. In a nice slow pace so that we enjoyed the morning and didn't break many of her doctor's suggestions.
Later on in the year, I ran a half marathon. You can read about the after glow HERE.
Recently, I purchased a RoadID bracelet. It's a must have for road runners, especially for those of us who run on back roads like I do.
It has contact phone numbers, my age, name, and a saying that I live by everyday:
I am free to run.
I am free to live.
I am free to love.
I am free!
I am free because I stopped telling myself what I could not do and did it. And nothing is more free than that.
