Tuesday Morning Day Off

Love days off during the week.

Last night, I told Alyssa that if she went to bed without any problems, that I'd let her ride Jersey to the bus stop.  To say that she was exstatic would be an understatement.  So much so that when I woke up this morning to get her up, she was already dressed, breakfast eaten, and shoes on.

It took a little bit more time than expected to get Jersey ready (couldn't find the English girth for the saddle... I should really organize my horse barn).

Bareback she went.

The bus stop for summer school is 1/2 mile down the road, and I thought we had enough time, but then there was the bus and we still had about 1/8 of a mile left and wasn't sure if the driver saw us coming.  So I asked Alyssa if she was good and centered and after a quick yes, I jogged next to Jersey to get her trotting.  As we got closer to the bus, I could see that all of the kids on the bus where standing up, looking out the window and my daughter, trotting bareback up to the bus on a horse.  I'm not sure whose smile was bigger, mine, Alyssa's, or the bus driver's.

Once Alyssa was safely on the bus, I jogged Jersey back home to her friends who were freaking out that she was gone.

While walking up to the house to change from my Bogs to my Brooks, I heard a strange sound- that of a rooster.  Sure enough, one of our "hens" has turned into a rooster.  I wonder if I can get my $1.99 back for the hen I was supposed to get?  :-)  Just kidding.  He seems pretty nice and we have way too many estrogen carrying animals around anyway, some testosterom may do us all some good.

And that brings me to my next part of the morning... Running.  It has been 4 weeks since I had an oopherectomy of my left ovary and I have not ran yet.  My 1/2 marathon training plan called for 3 miles today and since I did 1 mile with Jersey and Alyssa, I figure I could do 2 more.  I ran most of it at a nice 10:30 pace, which is faster than what I should have done, but I was feeling good so I just listened to my body and went.  The run felt super good.  I'm excited to get back into running and working out to try and slim down and become healthier overall.  Plus, I'd like to run a half in about 2 hours and 10 minutes in October, so I better get training now.

All in all, it has been a great start to a day off and it's only 10:15.
