Zillow

The house that we have called home for just about eight years is for sale.

Here is the link on zillow if you would like to check it out... or buy it ☺

One of the features on zillow is the ability of the current owner to write a note to prospective buyers.  If I were to do that, this is what I would write.

Nine years ago, our family of four was in a position to look for our forever dream home.  We were not in a rush to move so we were able to take our time and wait for that perfect house that we would raise our kids in and have our future grand kids over for sleepovers at.  When we walked through the doors of this house, we knew that this was it.  This was home where our kids would grow memories at- memories that would make them smile as they looked on their childhood growing up in the woods.  Where they would laugh at all the animals the land would house- from horses and goats, to chickens, rabbits, dogs, and cats.  And let us not forget the deer or raccoons and opossums and so many birds and even a few snakes that the cats missed somehow.

Because of this house, we were able to host four foreign exchange students that quickly became our family.  The extra bedroom in the basement allowed us to help people who needed a place to stay for a day or several months- whatever they needed to get back on their feet again.  The room off of the laundry room was our secret hideaway where my husband was able to begin brewing beer and wine and keep it out of the rest of the house. ☺

The fireplace.  Oh, that fireplace.  That was the first thing I fell in love with when I walked through the doors.  Instantly, I envisioned Christmas's where it was decorated with our family pictures and white lights, with a roaring fire inside where we could roast marshmallows at on snowy Michigan days.  And we did just that.  It made the perfect backdrop for Daddy Daughter dances and Christmas card pictures.

The second place I fell in love at was the kitchen sink.  While dishes were being washed, I could see my children running around the yard chasing chickens and frogs.  Huge smiles on their faces.  A place where they could grow and learn and be a kid as kids tend to grow up way too fast.  From that location, we watched deer come up to the yard grazing the fruit fallen from the apple and peach trees in the back.  So many different types of birds joined our home and of course squirrels and chipmunks.  They were all so fun to watch play on a sunny day.

When we purchased the house, we had no idea the full extent that it would be ingrained in our children's souls the way it has been.  We never could have imagined leaving it, either.  We were to grow old there and have many family gatherings after the kids left for adulthood.  That was our plan.  Life has a funny way of changing our plans, and quickly.  If we could still be there, if cancer didn't strike our lives, we would not be selling.  I mention this not for pity, but to give you, the potential buyer, the knowledge that we have not moved because we wanted to, but rather out of necessity as our patriarch could no longer use 66% of the home.  It is my hope that you fall in love with it's potential as much as we did.  That you can see past the few things that still need finished that are cosmetic and see all the memories yet to be made.  That you can envision bonfires and backyard camping.  Hunting within a five minute walk out your back door, working on your car in the heated barn, dinner parties and family reunions.  So many memories are waiting for you within and outside of those walls.  Can you see it?
