The Best Gift of All

Philippians 1: 3-5
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.  Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.

Philippians goes onto explain Jesus' attitude:  he was born into nothing, and kept himself as nothing fully knowing he was the Son of God; he was a servant; humble and obedient to death.

The past six months have shown me Jesus in more ways than I can count.

To know that people took their only non-replenish-able resource of time and prayed for us, came over to our home and helped us clean, move things, build things, cook things, buy things- is incredible to me.

They had the attitude of Jesus.

They will never get their time back.

Just like those who bought the gifts for us- they may not know our names- but our family was on their hearts.  They spent their time, their energy, and yes- their money- looking for a gift for my family.  Believe it or not, I do not know what 95% of those physical items are under and around our tree- but I do know that 100% of them were purchased with love and thought and time.

To me, that is the best gift of all.
