Thank you for last weekend

Most of you face bookers have probably noticed the "memories" that have been popping up from years past.  To be honest, I love this feature.  I can see what we were doing however many years ago and may even share a reminiscent photo of my kiddos when they were little because they really were little once and I like to see the proof of it.

But have you noticed that the pictures they show really seem like just like week and not several years ago?  Or maybe they seem a lifetime ago and like yesterday all at once.

I'm not sure how all this time feeling thing works, but I do know that this morning was the first time in a week that I wanted to run again after running a half marathon that seemed like forever ago and not just a week.

This was a race I have been actively training for for eighty ish days and I instagrammed it every step of the way.

If you'd like to see my fun pictures, click here, there is one for every day of training, even the rest days.

My goal was around 2 hours and thirty minutes to 3 hours.  I came in at 2:55... which kind of made me sad, however, at mile 11 to mile 13 (really to the end, but I couldn't walk through the finish line), I hit a brick wall.  My fuel was empty.  All I could do was walk fast, so I did.

Along the journey to the finish line, I had many cheerleaders.  My hubby and kids supported me through time and the random "good jobs" and "I'm proud of you"s.  They had to put up with later than normal dinners or a sleepier than normal mom.  Usually both. And they were troopers through it all.

Then there was my cheer squad that accompanied me on the road trip.  Two cousins and a friend.  No husbands or kids came along, and it was wonderful!  Girls really can drive a truck, pull a camper, set it up and tear it down all on their own. It felt wonderful!  We played cards, ate yummy food, talked and just relaxed without having to worry about anything.  It was glorious!

What was even better is that they cheered me on even though I didn't do as well as I wanted to.  They walked with me when I got all my stuff, helped me to get ready, and held my hands and prayed for me to stop shaking and to have fun.  I couldn't have done last weekend without them.

Today I wanted to run again.  So I slapped my shoes back together, grabbed a leash and took all three dogs on a run.  It was a lot of fun for me and probably good for them.

I'm not sure what the next race will be, but I know that there will be more because I need to push myself to do more.  Plus, running is a lot cheaper than therapy and it's not too shabby on my waist line. ;)
