Leeks and PAC

In the 90 devotion that I stareted on the first day of school last year (I'm on day 83), it said that I should try something new today.

It didn't specify what,  just to try.  I really didn't know what I could do because I have physical therapy in the morning before work, then work, then chores, then picking up one kid from volleyball practice and dropping off another at football practice, dinner needed made, then homework help, then more chores and then bed.

Not much time to squeeze in something new...until I pryed about it and recieved an answer by looking at my calendar.

A few weeks ago, I plugged in all of the school activities that I would like to be a part of and one of them was a PAC (parent auxiliary council) meeting at the middle school tonight at 5:30, right in between the pick up and drop off times for the sports. Soni thought why not go.  It wasn't exciting by any means, but it was informative and I was able to meet a school principal under good conditions ;).

Once I got home, there was the age old problem of "what's for dinner? "

I remembered that I bought stuff for new tuna casserole that had rave reviews, so made that which gave me the opportunity to try something new again...leeks.

What the heck is a leek, by the way? It looks like a cross between celery, artichoke, and onion.  I had no idea how to cut it, clean it, or anything.  But I figured it out and followed the recipie to as much of a T as I could being that a quarter of the things I actually didn't have like I thought I did, but I had leeks.

It turned out ok. The kids liked it enough and the hubby ate it, although I doubt he will bringing it to work as leftovers.

But that really isn't the point.

The point is, something new was tried.  And now I know more about my son's school, and what a leek is. ;)
