The Invitation
What I have forgiven... has been for your sakes...to keep Satan from getting the advantage over us; for we are not ignorant of his wiles and intentions. 2 Corinthians 2: 10-11
"As long as we are alive, our minds remain Satan's battlefield." (Meyers, pg 2)
"What we often miss about temptation and the battle our enemy levels against us is that it comes to us deceptively." (pg 2)
The prayer:
"Victorious God, help me resist the onslaughts of Satan, who attacks my mind and makes evil seem good. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen" (pg. 3)
My notes:
Satan knows me. I hate to admit that, but he does. He knows that no matter how hard I stay on track for eating right, if peanut butter cheese cake is put in front of me, I will eat it. He knows that if I have too much to drink, then I lose all inhibitions and do things I will regret. (side note here... I'm SO VERY THANKFUL that I know this, too.) Satan knows that a quick defiance from a child can cause me to snap when I'm hungry and tired which will then lead into a massive fight because I can't back down, I'm right, I'm THE MOM.
Satan knows my history, he knows my present, and I truly believes he is trying to set me up to fail in my future.
Papa, thank you for opening up my heart and my mind enough to see what Satan has done and is trying to do in my life. May you help me to draw on you always and not allow the every day distractions to come between our time alone. Amen.
